Happy Columbus Day!

Wow. Nine months has managed to elapse since the last posting and there are many reasons.  I'd have to say the primary reason was I just wasn't motivated.  While we have been getting a TON accomplished on the building, the pictures just didn't capture that.  But we just had sheetrock delivered so now we're back in business of noticeable progress!

Post will come more regularly in about a week.  Dale moved the scaffolding to the final section of the building so we can paint it.  And for the record, we don't own that section, but the building would've looked unfinished.  So our neighbor finally agreed to letting us paint.  Woo hoo!

For those on Facebook, I posted a picture of the building from 3 years ago, and then today a picture from two years ago.  I can't wait until next week when Dale will drop the scaffolding and we can get another full picture of The Jerome.

So this posting is for me.  A place to capture the last 9 months.  I don't know how long this one will be... it depends on how long it takes before I get bored going through the hundreds of pics.

January 30, 2016 - Fixed skylights.

Dale's work area up on the scaffolding.

Another angle of his work area.  I believe this was the first of four skylights that had to be fixed.

I couldn't figure out what this was at first.  This is a picture of the new framing that had to be installed and Dale is using his tape measure to point it out.

A shot of his workstation from the stairs.  That pesky red ladder always makes its way into the shot!
February 4, 2016 - First skylight completed.
Newly framed skylight four days later!
February 19, 2016 - Moved all the wood trim downstairs that was pulled from the upstairs to make room for more demolition.

This picture makes me want to throw-up.  Can you see all the trim?!?!? It's bundled by room, but each room has multiple bundles and it's all mixed up, and I have to sort it, and lay it out by room, and CLEAN IT ALL!!!  If anybody is bored and has cabin fever this winter, give me a call!!! :)
February 29, 2016 - Demo "Deanne's building"

Dale was bored with tearing out lathe and plaster, so he shifted gears and removed all the plaster from the brick.  That's what we do....   When you get tired of one thing, move on to another.  No shortage of things to do!

You may see a mess.  I see a major workout!

That's one hot dude!
March 12, 2016
That is all lathe!!!!  And that would be the dumpster that just moved out 9/30/16.

More mess.  Now you may understand why I didn't post much.  It was more of the same.

 April 15, 2016

He's still grinding.

Brick wall exposed

This used to be a bedroom.  It's funny... going through these pictures I know exactly where this was taken!

The white door has been removed and is now just a wall.  The wood door to the left of it has also been removed and will be replaced with another door to access the second stairway.
May 1, 2016 - Cleanup
Men and their toys...

And the mess those toys can make!

This is why we where masks!

And the end result.
June 4, 2016 - It's been 30 days since a picture was taken!

DO NOT STEP HERE!  This floor will need to be replace. More pictures to follow down below.
June 11, 2016 - Painting and nail pulling!

This is a little plant stand that dale made from leftover siding pulled from David and Sandy Parpart's house.  The darker color was our inspiration for the color used at the top of the building.

All of these little nails where used to hold down the linoleum. This will be my new job for the next month.
In case you were wondering, this is how it's done.  The little piece of wood is used for leverage.  The metal was used so the wood didn't get dented.  Yep, that metal thing hit the road--what a waste of time.  The process was to sig on the floor straddling the hammer and pulling towards my body.  Basically 8 hours on a rowing machine.  Only three more rooms to go!

Scary bathroom floor.

Good thing he knows what he's doing!

This is the DO NOT STEP HERE picture after it was cleaned up.  For those that have toured the building, this was the back kitchen where plywood was on the floor and we made sure you didn't step off of it!  There was a reason!
 June 20, 2016 - Scaffolding!
Getting ready to paint the top of the building and tuck-point the front.

June 26, 2016 - Painting begins on the first section.

First step - scrape paint.

Scrape paint with an iddy-biddy brush.
July 1, 2016 - 2nd floor back windows installed
All windows installed. Check.

The back of the building looks so much better with those windows.   Hahahaha.  it probably looks the same to everyone else. :)
July 3, 2016 - Finished painting the first section.

Dale had to do the end cap.  I just couldn't get out there without the railing.  Hold on, Honey!  Oh, and you missed a spot!
July 20, 2016 - Main Hallway and ductwork
The main hallway had to be rebuilt.  You can see that most of it is new wood.

The ductwork on the alley building was foamed today.  This had to be done because it's up in the attic  and can't be exposed to cold air.

There was a reason for the string on the yellow thing, but I don't recall.

Foamed ductwork in the ceiling.

July
More of the DO NOT STEP area.

Looks like we're replacing most of the floor!

Check out the size of these floor joists!

Thank goodness we have Jonesy.  Can you even imagine drilling out around each and every brick just to fill it back in!  The top half of the picture is done, and he still needs to fill in the bottom half.

Every square inch of the front of the building has been touched.
okay... I'm getting bored.  But I only have two more months to go!  I need another glass of wine.

August 6, 2016
That wood door from the picture way back has been removed.
 August 16, 2016
Moving to the 2nd section for painting and tuck-pointing.
August 26, 2016
Two down and two to go.  Well only one for us, and one for Scott, our neighbor.

I love these gloves, but I don't think they're going to make it through another month.  Even the duct tape is worn out.  These were the best gloves ever.  And the were originally my pretty black dress gloves!
September 18, 2016
Final door replaced.  Check.

Lots of natural light!

Obsessed with the door right now.

And now we're ready for the third section.

Painted in record time.  Sure makes a difference when Dale chips in and helps out!  We completed scraping, priming and two coats of paint in a weekend!

October 1, 2016
I liked the way the sun was coming through.  We're very close to getting sheetrock up on the walls and all this will be closed in.  Kind of sad.
October 3, 2016 - Sheet Rock and Dumpster removed
Sheet Rock delivered!
So now we're all caught up.  Before the sheet rock can be done, we need to add sound channel and insulation to every room.  We'll be out painting the final section outside this weekend.

And we're still having fun!!!!!!
